Why I hated the Da Vinci Code

There are so many reasons that I'm not going to write about it. I'll just leave you with this picture.

Don't worry. You're not the only one who thought The Da Vinci Code was waaaaay over rated.

I am not going to pay to see that movie... but I will enjoy the various spoofs and laughing at how newsworthy the Province finds it.

Just for the record, I didn't see the movie, nor will I ever see the movie unless I am forced.
If you thought the movie was boring, full of plot holes and characters that were painfully stupid (and yet somehow leading scholars), ridiculously obvious when it was trying to be mysterious, and so on, then you can rest assured that the book is the same way.
THe writing style reminded me of the mystery novels I would guiltily get out from the library in junior high. THe only difference was that I could read one of those in a day. The Da Vinci Code took me much longer to read cause I kept getting bored and falling asleep.
Why did I read it? Because of all the hype. I figured there must be something interesting about something that was a pop phenomenon. I was wrong.
I am also bitter about the press it is getting.
HHHHHMMMMPPPPHHHH.
Okay, I'm done being rant-y now.

Holy crap! Me too! Here I was thinking that I was the only person on the planet who thought that The Da Vinci Code was terrible. I think Dan Brown pretty much copied and pasted his last book, Angels and Demons (which I also read. Don't ask why) and changed some of the names around. They're both essentailly the same book. Who'd a thought that one could save the world with religious symbology twice in one lifetime? Way to go Robert...

jackass.

It's safe to come out now as a Da Vinci code hater! I think it was so poorly written that I am dismayed when I see how many people list the book as one of their favourites.
I really enjoy your blog - keep up the good work (and Vancouver is my top north American city!)
